Having lived a number of years in the Ahwatukee Foothills, a hidden gem of a holiday tradition is the Ahwatukee Festival of Lights. It’s THE major celebration of the year for Ahwatukee Foothills community and has been going strong for over 20 years! Each year, over 15,000 people attend the fun-filled event. This major celebration signifies the holiday spirit residents experience in Ahwatukee AZ. The kick-off for the Holiday Season celebration is the lighting of over 2 million lights on Thanksgiving night along Chandler Boulevard from 24th Street west to Desert Foothills Parkway.
The Annual Festival of Lights Kick-Off Party (the Saturday after Thanksgiving) is a neighborhood holiday you don’t want to miss. The Nov. 28th event begins at 11 a.m. at Desert Foothills Park at Chandler Boulevard and Desert Foothills Parkway. There is something for everyone. Santa’s Village with face painting, more than 100 vendors in the marketplace, and a carnival, game area, food booths & live entertainment open until 7 p.m. The event culminates with a Harley Davidson parade featuring about 100 bikes draped in lights and holiday garb, and stage sounds that finish the festivities.
